Today, all of Hyundai Motor Company's Design, Research & Development and Production are totally focused on to achieve the highest of globally recognised safety ratings.

What is Active Safety?

  • Active safety features assist drivers to prevent accidents. A vehicle's tyres, brakes, handling, acceleration, and visibility all make important contributions to active crash avoidance.

What is Passive Safety?

  • Passive safety features protect drivers in the case of an unfortunate accident. For example, features like chassis design, reinforced cabin shells, crumple zones, bumpers, air bags, side intrusion beams and roll over bars will give drivers the best chance of survival.

Through constant research, development and innovation Hyundai has developed and optimised a number of state-of-the-art safety technologies including:

  • Electronic Stability Program (ESP) stops the vehicle from leaning and sliding when it is in motion. With inbuilt intelligence that activates 40 times faster than human reaction, ESP can correct any errors in the car's stability before they are noticed by the human driver.   • Anti-skid Braking System (ABS) which prevents wheel lock and loss of steering so that the driver can retain control. It also shortens the braking distance and enhances braking safety in low grip conditions.
  • Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) varies the force placed on each of the brakes, depending on variables such as speed, road conditions and weight distribution in the vehicle. This change in braking pressure on each wheel helps boost the vehicle's stopping power and shorten braking distance.
  • Traction Control System (TCS) enables a safe, smooth acceleration from a stopped position and prevents wheel spin when the car is in motion. The system also improves driving performance by controlling wheel rotation and adjusting engine power according to the conditions.
