Hyundai drives into first place in the latest Quality Index
For the first time ever, Hyundai has topped the annual US Total Quality Index beating European, Japanese and US rivals.
Hyundai leads in three categories:
- The larger car category for the Grandeur (or Azera as its branded in the US)
- Small SUV category for the Santa Fe; and
- Minivan category for the Entourage (not currently available in Australia)
Kevin McCann, Sales and Marketing Director at Hyundai Motor Company Australia comments: "This award is especially pleasing as it is based not only on quality and reliability but how good the car is to own and drive. Hyundai continues to build a strong track record of producing cars which are the most satisfying to own, as well as cost-efficient to run."
The influential Total Quality Index is the premier measure of new vehicle owner satisfaction in the US. The survey asks buyers to rate all aspects of the ownership experience, from buying and owning through to driving experience.
Responses from more than 27,000 buyers who bought 2007 models in September, October and November of 2006 were used to calculate the Total Quality Index.
Dr. Darrel Edwards, Founder and CEO of Strategic Vision (the company who undertook the study) said: "Even though Hyundai is often overlooked by the US customer, Hyundai's success in 2007 isn't surprising given its current products and its leadership that is looking to the near and distant future with new designs from styling to power train."
"AutoPacific's report is another example of how Hyundai is continuing to lift its brand image closer to the excellence of its models with their quality, design integrity and value," Mr McCann said. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
