NRMA Survey Triple Triumph

Hyundai is continuing to be awarded for its cars' quality, safety and economical running costs.

In the NRMA's Vehicle Running Cost Report released yesterday, the Hyundai Getz was named the most affordable vehicle to run at $119.53 per week.

In addition, Hyundai rates first in two other NRMA categories:

  • Most economical SUV to own and run (cost per week) for the Tucson City
  • Most economical people mover to own and run (cost per week) for the Trajet V6

"With the cost of day-to-day living ever increasing and petrol prices continuing to fluctuate, it's key that Australians are aware of the running costs of vehicles", said Kevin McCann, Sales and Marketing Director at Hyundai Motor Company Australia. "At Hyundai, we fit our cars with leading technology to ensure they are cost effective to run, whilst offering world class performance and safety. This award, along with the recent accolade from the RACV*, is testament to Hyundai's leadership in the area."

In other Hyundai awards –
The Santa Fe has received the '2007 Top Safety Pick' awarded by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in the USA. The Santa Fe earned the top rating of 'good' for front, side and rear crash protection and also for being equipped with ESP (Electronic Safety Program), widely thought of as the most important safety feature since the seatbelt.

Hyundai also swept into pole position in terms of vehicle quality according to the influential Strategic Vision Survey in the US beating all European, Japanese and US rivals.

With its now current driveaway pricing, Getz 1.4 would cost even less than these figures which derive from March and April, before the Getz driveaway campaign commenced.

Hyundai led in three categories:

  • The larger car category for the Grandeur (or Azera as its branded in the US)
  • Small SUV category for the Santa Fe; and
  • Minivan category for the Entourage (not currently available in Australia)

Kevin McCann concluded: "These top rankings are further testament to the innovation, style, safety and overall excellence of Hyundai models. We are continuing to prove that Hyundai produces world class cars and are being recognised both locally and internationally for it."
