HMCA CEO Steve Yeo introduces Carlton star Chris Judd and Socceroo Scott MacDonald to the Green Car of the Year the Hyundai i30 at Princes Park Melbourne

It was a meeting of the superstars after Carlton training today when Chris Judd and Socceroo star Scott McDonald met for the first time. While Judd had just completed most of the Carlton training session, McDonald was preparing to fly back to Scotland after a successful night with the Socceroos in their 3-0 victory over Qatar in the World Cup qualifier at The Dome.

The meeting of the two sporting stars was made possible courtesy of Carlton’s joint major sponsor Hyundai with Scott a Hyundai Ambassador. They were joined for the photo shoot by Steve Yeo the Chief Executive Officer of Hyundai Motor Company Australia Pty Ltd.

To help promote the Hyundai association the photo shoot was taken in front of two award winning Hyundai i30 motor cars. The i30 was awarded the CarsGuide 2007 Car of the Year and 2007 Green Car of the Year Awards.

Green was the appropriate word for everyone involved with Judd being a supporter of environment issues, Carlton aiming to become the most environmentally friendly club in the AFL, Hyundai having the Green Car of the Year and McDonald who had just played in the Green and Gold for Australia, but for Celtic, the ‘Green Team’ in the Scottish Premier League.

McDonald of course spoke about the Socceroos victory and of the next match to be played in China as well as the requirements of playing a game in Scotland last weekend, representing Australia on Wednesday night and then heading back to Europe to play for Celtic this weekend. As for Judd there was only one question that required an answer and that was in relation to his progress from the groin injury.

Following the official photo session and talk with the media the two sport stars walked off the ground together talking about their respective sports and no doubt enjoying the opportunity for a quiet chat together. McDonald grew up in Melbourne and is a keen AFL supporter, however he admitted to being a Hawthorn fan so Judd presented him with a 1987 Weg Premiership poster from the Carlton Shop. (The Blues defeated the Hawks to win the 1987 flag).
