The Hyundai A-League
Since 2004, at the establishment of the Football Federation of Australia’s (then Australian Soccer Association) A-League competition, Hyundai has been a proud founder and naming rights sponsor. The current agreement will see Hyundai remain in this role through to the end of the 2015/ 2016 season.
As the first major sponsor, Hyundai showed courage and faith to invest in the A-League when national support for football, or soccer as it was widely known then, had not been fully established.
The A-League today
Today, the Hyundai A-League is well cemented as part of Australian sporting culture, and remains the fastest growing club sport in the country. Hyundai dealers work within their local communities to continue to increase club registrations and crowd attendance.
Hyundai and football
Hyundai’s partnership with football in Australia extends across the whole of the sport. From the ‘Goals for Grassroots’ community program, to supporting the Qantas Socceroos and the Matildas, and all the way to the star studded sponsorship of the Hyundai Club Challenge, which saw an Australian record crowd (for a match between club teams) of 80,295 watch Sydney FC face LA Galaxy, including star player David Beckham, at ANZ Stadium in Sydney.
Globally, Hyundai is mid-way through a 14-year partnership with FIFA and the naming rights of the Hyundai A-League is an important part of a worldwide football support network established by the Hyundai brand.
