i30 Performance

    Handling & Suspension

With its aerodynamic design and advanced powertrains, the i30 matches its sporty good looks with impressive performance. Across the i30 range you have the choice of highly efficient petrol and diesel engines, which have both been designed to take city driving in their stride while also being ready to be unleashed on the open road. Under the bonnet sophisticated engineering techniques and advanced technologies work together to deliver a very impressive level of fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions.

    Three Engine Choices

When powered with a petrol engine, the i30 is equipped with Hyundai’s 1.8 litre ‘Nu’ powerplant, which features Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (Dual CVVT) that provides up to 107 kW of power.

    Environmental Integrity

For the i30 diesel, the power is provided by a 1.6 litre high-output engine from Hyundai’s ‘U2’ series. Using Common Rail Direct Injection (CRDi) technology and a Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT), its impressive 260Nm of maximum torque and 94 kW power output is matched by remarkable fuel efficiency and lower emissions..

In the tradition of Hyundai’s never-ending quest for powertrain excellence, the i30 combines its powerful engines with the most modern advancements in manual and automatic transmissions for the most fuel-efficient shift and a new level of driving comfort.

The 6-speed manual is fitted with multi-cone synchronisers for improved shifting performance while the 6-speed automatic with sequential manual mode, utilises an ultra-flat torque converter to improve durability and provide better weight efficiency.

Flex Steer is an exciting Hyundai innovation that enables you to customise your steering to your environment by changing the weight of the steering and the amount of feedback you receive from the road. ‘Normal’ mode gives the driver a firm but easy feel that’s perfect for day-to-day driving; ‘Sport’ mode enhances your drive on the open road by providing maximum road feedback and driver involvement; while ‘Comfort’ mode provides a lighter steer and easier manoeuvrability in slow moving inner-city traffic.

The i30 ride and handling has been fine tuned for Australian driving conditions. The suspension set up includes a MacPherson Strut design front assembly and incorporates six mounting points for improved handling.

i30 Safety

  • 5 Star ANCAP safety Rating

    5 Star ANCAP Safety Rating

When you drive the i30 you have the assurance that it has achieved the maximum 5-Star ANCAP safety rating. This same high safety standard applies across  the i30 range, because at Hyundai, safety is never an optional extra.

Anti-Skid Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)

In an emergency manoeuvre, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) helps keep the i30 on track, while Hyundai’s Traction Control System (TCS) monitors grip and reduces wheel spin to assist safe acceleration on slippery or uneven road surfaces. The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist System (BAS) enhances safety under emergency braking situations by preventing the i30’s brakes from locking up while distributing brake-force according to the vehicle’s load.

The state-of-the-art Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) helps the driver maintain control of the vehicle by applying counter-steering assistance to guide the vehicle back into the correct steering direction. This innovative safety technology helps the i30 maintain the correct steering position in instances where the driver reacts too slowly or tries to steer in the incorrect direction while trying to maintain vehicle control.

    Traction Control System (TCS)

Hyundai’s commitment to safety is paramount with the use of high-tensile steel in its chassis, and this is complemented with a comprehensive system of 7 airbags that will protect you in the event of a collision. These includes: driver and front passenger airbags; nearside and offside curtain airbags; left and right side airbags; and a driver’s knee.

The i30 features three child-restraint anchor points making it easy to utilise the full flexibility of the 60:40 split fold seats.

    Reinforced Integrity And Cushion Zones

Providing you with greater assurance and safety when reverse parking, four parking sensors alert you to objects that might be outside your field of vision by emitting an audible warning sound. The system is automatically activated when the vehicle is placed in reverse.
